This caffeine withdrawl is brutal but will sooo be worth it.

Man I’m working my way down as well. It does suck sometimes.
I’ve almost completely removed energy drinks, which is probably a great step lol.

That's a great first step

So, what brought this on?

I quit in December and can say it’s worth it just hang in there you’re doing great

I used to drink at least one soda a day. Quit that a couple of years ago and it’s been great. Keep at it dude.

Yep. My mom was addicted for about 15 years and finally kicked it completely last year.

Anxiety attack on Friday night. I’ve had a history of caffeine induced attacks so, I’ve decided to give it up until I get things back under control.

Thanks. Currently on Day 3.

As someone currently smoking one pack of Camels, drinking at least 5 cups of coffee and half a bottle of wine a day, I wish I had that willpower, hope you can achieve whatever results you are expecting!

I don’t smoke but I used to consume absurd amounts of coffee Mon-Fri and still some on weekends to mellow things out.

yeah, it can suck. just make sure you get enough sleep, and stay hydrated to ward off the headaches as much as possible.

Quit last year after getting weekend headaches without office coffee.. Now I only have coffee/pop when I’m driving on trips.

That would do it. I just talked to a guy yesterday that quit for 2 years after chugging a 6-shot espresso drink before heading to his night shift job. He had a rough night.

Yeah I was at 1 monster, 1 energy packet mixed into water, and then 3 sodas.
Lately I’ve been down the the energy packet in the water and 1 maybe 2 sodas if i’m dragging. Trying to keep it to 1.
(all of this is zero cal so diet soda, I’m not adding insane sugar to all that caffeine)

Definitely worth the pain. I had bad headaches for over two weeks when I quit last October, but now I sleep better, stopped grinding my teeth at night, and my uh... “digestion” is much more regular.
I recently went back to a cup a day a couple times a week, but I don’t feel like I have to drink it constantly throughout the day anymore to stay alert.

I’ve been constantly filling my old coffee thermos with ice water as soon as i get to the bottom. The admin that sits by the bathroom on this floor is going to wonder why im making so many trips.

Not being able to sleep well because of this didn’t help either.

Nice, I got headaches and such but it was mainly screwing with me mentally (and still is).

I think about this a lot, for all the reasons that anyone usually chooses to quit a substance dependency. But with two small kids, I find that a lot of the things that I “want” at any given moment are unobtainable for whatever reason. So I find I have less will power than ever to resist something like a cup of coffee. I can only deny myself so many of the desires I have in a given day, and you gotta pick your battles I guess.
Good luck to you and I’m sure you’ll be better off in the end.

I started with reducing my intake from daily Mountain Dews to one per day to a few times per week and then down to 1 per week and then nothing, it's a process and it takes work and it's harder than most people think, but it is nice now to not have to rely on it so much and it's helped me get in a more healthy sleeping schedule so that I actually have more energy in the morning

I went from working at a coffee shop full time to basic training, and I’m pretty sure my caffeine withdrawals were harder to handle than the smokers had to deal with. I had been basically been surviving on bagels and espresso before I left, and summer in Texas made it extra hard to stay hydrated. The headaches were immense. Good luck!

Sounds like you quit cold turkey, I’m working my way down.
![]() 06/13/2016 at 14:03 |

Yeah honestly I went to bed at like 1:30 last night and woke up more refreshed than when I normally go to sleep around midnight, I suspect the reduction of alcohol and caffeine has helped with that.

Jesus... My caffeine intake has only increased with time

I’ve been trying off and on for around a year and it’s ridiculously hard. Headaches get really bad sometimes.

How much were you drinking before?
![]() 06/13/2016 at 14:20 |

Varied day to day, but anywhere from 4-6 cups of coffee. The caffeine content is quite high in the stuff I drink.
![]() 06/13/2016 at 14:22 |

That’s a fair bit, and you’re even saying it’s the strong stuff. Good luck and I’m sure it will be rewarding to kick your dependence on it.

haha, I do the same thing with my coffee mug. It’s good for you.

I’m not even trying to drop caffeine in general, just sodas, and that is a pain in the ass. But last time I quit I lost 50 lbs.
